PC's 16th Annual Petwalk

Bring your friends, family and well-behaved dog for a sponsored walk along the wooded paths of the Aggie campus to raise money for The Purr-fect Cat Shelter. Register from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants meeting certain pledge levels will be eligible for prizes. Dogs will receive a bandana and a goodie bag from sponsor Especially for Pets.

5th Annual Mayo Bowl

On September 8, 2014, Jerod Mayo of the New England Patriots is hosting the fifth annual Mayo Bowl, a celebrity charity bowling tournament, at Kings, 600 Legacy Place, Dedham. All proceeds from this event will benefit Boston Medical Center who consistently provide excellent and accessible health service to all in need of care regardless of status or ability to pay – exceptional care without exception.


The Mayo Bowl allows participants to bowl alongside celebrities while improving the lives of local families by donating to a wonderful charity. Against the Tide - Help Prevent Breast Cancer!

Against the Tide is an annual statewide family-friendly fundraising event to benefit the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC). MBCC works to reduce toxic chemicals in the environment, which research shows are linked to the dramatic rise in the incidence of breast cancer. Against the Tide will take place at DCR’s Nickerson State Park on Saturday August 16th, from 7:00 am until 1:00pm. Participants can choose from 1, 2, 3, or 4 of the following 6 events: a 1-mile swim - competitive or recreational, a 2-mile kayak, a 3-mile walk, a 5K run, and a 10K run. There is also an Aquathon consisting of a competitive 1-mile swim and your choice of a competitive 5K or 10K run. The first activity starts at 8:30am. Survivor Casting Call

Join the community for a casting call for the CBS reality show, Survivor at Mohegan Sun and meet Survivor: Cagayan winner, Tony Vlachos during a special Reality Check event.


Do you have what it takes to outwit, outplay and outlast? Don’t miss your chance to be on the longest-running reality competition series in history, Survivor! A casting call will be held by WFSB on Thursday, August 14th from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at The Shops at Mohegan Sun.


*Note: Must be 21 years of age or older to participate in the casting call.


Stick around for an exclusive Reality Check Event! Tony Vlachos, the police officer turned reality star, who won Survivor: Cagayan, will be on-hand for a special Q&A at 4pm followed by a Signing Event at 5:00pm.

Week Seven of “Free Fun Fridays"

The Highland Street Foundation continues its annual “Free Fun Fridays” initiative, a summer program that opens doors to treasured cultural institutions on Fridays throughout Massachusetts at no cost to visitors. A total of 67 museums and cultural venues will participate in the program, an increase from the 60 venues that participated in 2013.


This week’s venues feature an eclectic mix that is sure to have something for everyone. WHO: “Free Fun Fridays” is open to patrons of all ages and incomes. Since being established in 2009, “Free Fun Fridays” has drawn more than half a million visitors to its participating venues. Last year, the event saw 165,000 visitors. This year, the Foundation hopes to reach more than 200,000 visitors.

The Race for Julia's Place

Join the community in a 5K run and 1.8 mile walk through scenic Hale Reservation. The race starts and ends at Membership Beach. The entrance is marked by a large green and white sign just past 573 Dover Road, Westwood.
