Dental Bonding

Adult Dentistry Dental Bonding

Studies show people with an attractive smile are considered friendlier, more intelligent, and more successful. So, don’t let an imperfect smile dull your shine or diminish your confidence!

Teeth can get chipped or cracked accidentally or while playing sports. Or, they may be irregularly spaced, misshapen, or discolored for any number of reasons. Fortunately, these problems can be resolved with cosmetic bonding or contouring, two processes which can reshape teeth to create a more beautiful smile.

  • With dental bonding, your dentist uses tooth-colored composite resin to add more structure to teeth to fill spaces and chips. The material bonds to the existing tooth and is then molded into the desired shape. Bonding is considered a temporary restoration, but they generally last for several years. Many patients choose bonding as a precursor to permanent porcelain veneers.
  • With contouring, a special tool is used to reshape teeth by removing small amounts of existing tooth enamel. Through contouring, your dentist can change a tooth’s shape or length or soften the edges of sharp or jagged teeth.

Usually, dental bonding and contouring can be completed in one visit. Often, our cosmetic dentists perform bonding and contouring together for optimal outcome. We can help you evaluate which technique is best for you, taking into consideration the overall health of your teeth and the your goals for your smile.
