Implant Supported Dentures
With dentures, it can be difficult to enjoy certain foods or to speak with confidence. Most denture wearers report problems with fit and function and often fear that they will come loose and cause issues or embarrassment.
Implant Supported Dentures
Dental implants can be used to stabilize removable dentures. This usually involves employing a special type of abutment or attachment that is shaped like a ball. A retaining component, usually an O-ring, is incorporated into the denture. The O-ring snaps over the ball when the denture is seated, giving the denture much-improved stability. This, in turn makes the dentures much more comfortable and virtually eliminates troublesome denture movement.
What Are Mini Implants?
Mini implants are smaller, one-piece implants that combine the root implant and the abutment (the ball) into one. Like with standard implant supported dentures, the denture is fitted with an associated component that allows it to be attached securely to the mini implant. The Mini implants are smaller in diameter than traditional implants and are usually used in cases where there is insufficient bone for traditional implants.
